I Don’t Work Hard For My Money!
Posted on March 17th, 2010 at 3:15 pm by detambin and tagged

I really don’t follow the ‘old timer’ frame of mind: Work hard and by the sweat of your brow, you can make a decent living! Those times are gone for most people. I mean yeah, there are still those that work very hard for a living and that is exactly what they get……a living, not a life. Some work to make a living while others work to live their life. That is what I do. I work a few hours of the day and enjoy the rest. There are so many ways to make money without breaking a sweet or putting in overtime.

Today I put in about an hour of work and decided to head out to a small town called Greer here in Arizona. It is about 35 minutes from where I live here in Pinetop. The town is just gorgeous. They have two little stores, and ice cream shop and about a dozen bed and breakfast places there in town. It is very remote with trails to hike on, the little colorado to fish from, and places to just enjoy nature and family. But anyway, just as we pulled into town, it started pouring. So we went into the little ice cream shop and got a cone. There were a few people in there trying to stay dry. One lady finished her cone and ran out to her jeep parked just outside. She put it in gear and backed up right into a little Toyota and dented the fender pretty good. She was so flustered and nervous. Here friend that was with her said, “It’s gonna be fine Page, it’s just a Toyota Echo!”

Anyway, it was a little excitement for the day. We spent a few hours over there just enjoying the rain and the outdoors. Most Dads are stuck at work at 2pm on a Thursday afternoon. That is where they choose to be. I choose to be at home with my family during the day and this business provides me that opportunity. Life for me is joyous. I wake up excited for each new day and what it may bring. I am passionate about the industry I am involved in. Personal Development is an industry to get excited about. It helps people realize their full potential! If you are looking for a different lifestyle, more time with your family, and the income to be able to do so. Contact me and I will introduce this business to you!

Fathers Day-You Never Know How Much You Love Someone Till Their Gone-Dads Who Couldn’t Stick Around
Posted on March 12th, 2010 at 10:16 pm by detambin and tagged , , , , ,

Fathers Day – It’s a funny old life when you think about it. Is it not any wonder why a great many of us go round with our head in the clouds trying to figure out why certain things go on in our lives which make no sense. One in particular that frustrates the brain is the saying “You will never know how much you love someone till their gone”, how can we ever know until an actual loss is suffered. Something like this is not what you wish for to find out. However, still a baffling quote. How you can love someone better if they are not around is beyond me. I have spent endless hours for a conclusion to this and I believe I have the answer.

Losing some one you love – close to your heart causes a type of pain which is hard to describe. It is a pain of persistence which can stay with you for many years.

When a person is alive it is so easy to take that someone for granted even though you love them with all your heart. Although this is the case in most relationships, we still tend to overlook important things that mean a lot, like telling that person in your life how much you love them dearly. I believe the saying “You will never know how much you love someone till their gone”, has stemmed from regret. Regret is a major issue in the life of some folk where they beat themselves up over not having done this, done that, said this or said that. If we had a crystal ball wouldn’t saying our goodbyes be so much easier as well as allowing us time to let our feelings be known.

The emptiness and bitterness you feel can be remedied in prayer. I know because I still live with the regret of not telling dad how much he meant to me. His death came as a complete shock; he was well and healthy only to drop dead at the age of 54. Why I ask myself were the words of “I love you” from dad never reciprocated by me, was I too busy dolling myself up to go out, was I too busy washing my hair or was I just plain selfish and lazy to make his day by saying I love you dad. Well you no what dad, I love you more than you will ever know now that you have gone, so there you have it – the saying holds up in truth of every word.

God our Father

in your wisdom and love you made all things.

Bless all fathers who have taken upon themselves, the task of parenting.

Bless dads who have lost a wife to death … or divorce who are bringing up children alone.

Give them strength and your love so they can become the loving, caring persons they are meant to be. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Origin of Fathers Day

Sonora Dodd is the woman we have to thank for giving us a day in remembrance of dads. We go back as far as 1909 for the beginning, sadly the fathers before that will have missed out on this special day. However if the kids back then told dad everyday that they loved him, then sure enough fathers day would have been every day. Sonora Dodd came up with the idea after her father William Jackson Smart, was left to raise her and five other siblings single handed after their mother died giving birth. What instigated this proposal was the mother’s day sermon she was listening to in chapel. Because Sonora Dodd’s father was born in June, she asked the churches in her area to honour fathers in June. Her efforts paid off and the first Father’s Day was celebrated in Spokane, Washington, in June 1910. Father’s Day did not become an official U.S. holiday until 1972.

Bereavement

It has been said that only the unloving and the unloved escape from the pain of grief. In contrast to this is that the more deeply we love the more severe also can be the pain of loss which may include divorce or separation from those we cherish. In some cases a loss can at times seem so unreal to the bereaved. This is an essential defence mechanism. The bereaved sometimes refer to somebody who has died in the present tense as though they are still alive. Familiar remarks are; ‘It’s not really sunk in. I can’t believe it, or any minute now they will walk through the door. More often than not it all hits home after the burial.. In mourning we often hear of god taking the blame ‘Why me’? When the sinners of the world get off Scott free, I ask you god for an explanation. This can be triggered off by being angry with ourselves thinking of the missed opportunities or things we wished had never happened

These are all normal emotions that can affect anyone. If you find it hard coming to terms with the death of a loved one – you are not on your own; this is a natural part of the grief process for some.

Finding Tuition Reimbursement Benefits – 1 Great Resource
Posted on March 10th, 2010 at 5:32 pm by detambin and tagged , , , , , , ,

Image : http://www.flickr.com

For employees who have been with a company from 6 months to two years, many companies offer tuition assistance or tuition reimbursement for college degrees. To qualify, you have to be in good standing, in some cases you have to major in a subject that relates to your work, but more and more let you study what you want. And of course, you have to be accepted into the college.

How Benefits Work

Then, once in the program, you either pay for school and the company reimburses you some or all of your tuition, or the company may just send the school a check for part of your tuition. To keep the benefit, you usually have to show that you get good grades. And some companies have an annual cap to what the benefit will pay in tuition at school.

Who Offers Tuition Reimbursement or Tuition Assistance?

The trouble comes from finding a company that will offer the benefit. Who will pay for you to go to college as part of work? Finding a local company near your university or home town would be especially helpful, right?

First, more companies offer this benefit than you might imagine. Why? A few reasons. First, most employees don’t use it. Second, if you use it, you usually obligate yourself to stay with the company or pay back the tuition. And also by using the benefit and staying for school and to finish your obligation, the company expects to reduce turnover and the costs of training a new employee, advertising, and so on.

Where To Find Companies With Great Benefits

Large companies usually have this benefit, as well as national chains. But more and more, companies that want a stable happy workforce add this benefit to their package.

For one great resource for finding companies that offer tuition reimbursement or tuition assistance, look at the Fortune Top 100 employers. Fortune publishes this list every year, and categorizes the list by best benefits, best pay, size, and several other factors.

You can find the list at money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/bestcompanies/2008/full_list, or just search for the fortune top 100 places to work. But also consider a few that may not be on the list as well.

For instance, look into working for universities, colleges, and related businesses. Because a university or college has direct access to education, they know they have empty seats. Like a theater that lets their employees go to shows for free or a deep discount, a university usually offers a great deal to employees to go to school.

You may need to work in a full time position to receive this benefit, but that is typical of any company. Good luck with your search!
